The Montreal Alouettes confirmed Dahrran Diedrick lost his battle with cancer at 44.Diedrick played I-back as a senior for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 2002.He was the first Canadian-born recruit to earn a scholarship. The university called Diedrick "a key role in Nebraska's Big 12-leading rushing offense in 2002," which led them to the Rose Bowl.Diedrick played his senior season with two degrees, according to UNL.The I-back then made the transition to the NFL, for San Diego, Green Bay, and Washington.He continued his career playing football in Canada, where he was raised and went on to win championships there.According to Canadian news agency CBC, Diedrick was diagnosed with cancer in 2014.His former team, the Montreal Alouettes confirmed his death Sunday.
