Two women have died after a shooting in rural Beaver County Saturday afternoon. A suspect is in custody.First responders, SWAT and the county coroner were called to the scene in New Sewickley. Beaver County dispatch confirmed the shooting happened in the 400 block of Klein Road. Police and emergency medical services remained on scene as of Saturday evening.A male suspect is currently in the Beaver County Jail and is facing criminal charges, according to a press release issued by Chief Gregory Carney, of the New Sewickley Township Police Department.Carney later confirmed for Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that the suspect is Benjamin Selby, 43, of Zelienople. According to a criminal docket, Selby is charged with two counts of criminal homicide and one count of kidnapping for ransom. County 911 told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that helicopters had been called for hospital transports, but that those helicopters were later canceled. According to Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier, SWAT responded to this shooting, which devolved into a hostage situation. The coroner also responded to the scene.In his press release, Carney said that initial responding units "encountered an armed and barricaded suspect" inside the home in question. Two women who were dead and an uninjured woman were also found inside that home."The initial response by our officers and officers from assisting departments quickly contained this incident within the residence," the release stated. "At no time were any neighbors or members of the public in any danger."The identities or ages of those killed have not been released. A possible motive for this shooting remains unclear. Carney declined to explain the relationship between Selby and the victims.Carney had a preliminary arraignment Saturday evening, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 3 at 10 a.m. Bail was denied due to the homicide charges, according to the docket.
