ALONG WITH A LOT OF THE STEELERS BACK IN TOWN THIS WEEK FOR ORGANIZED TEAM ACTIVITIES. TIGHT END PAT FREIERMUTH SPENDING A LITTLE TIME THIS AFTERNOON GIVING BACK, HANGING OUT WITH SOME KIDS HERE AT THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB IN CARNEGIE DURING THE VISIT. PAT FREIERMUTH ALSO PRESENTING A CHECK TO THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB FOR $5,000. FOR A LOT OF THESE KIDS, IT’S THE EXPERIENCE THEY WON’T FORGET. GET A CHANCE TO RUN AROUND A LITTLE, PLAY CATCH WITH SOMEONE FROM THEIR HOMETOWN TEAM, FREIERMUTH SAYS. THOSE SMILES ARE SOMETHING HE DOESN’T TAKE FOR GRANTED IN HIS ROLE OFF THE FIELD. I WAS KIND OF INVOLVED IN IT BACK HOME, YOU KNOW, GOING THERE, PULLING BASKETBALL GAMES WITH KIDS AND STUFF LIKE THAT. I HAD SOME KIDS THAT I WAS FRIENDS WITH, GREW UP IN THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB AND JUST BEING A PART OF THAT NOW, IT’S AWESOME. ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE THOSE SMILES ON KIDS FACES. Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth took time away from the football field Wednesday, for a trip to the Carnegie Clubhouse. He spent time with the Boys and Girls Club of Western PA, and made a donation. He presented a check to the organization for $5,000.For Pat, it was a fun chance to interact with the local kids. He says it's an opportunity he doesn't take for granted."I was kind of involved in it back at home," he said. "Just being a part of that now, it's awesome."The former Penn State Nittany Lion is starting his third season in the black and gold.
