THIS IS A WTA EDITORIAL SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD IS CHARLES W WOLFORD, PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WTA. NEXT TUESDAY, MAY 16TH IS OUR PRIMARY ELECTION DAY HERE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA, VOTERS WILL BE MAKING DECISIONS ON THEIR PARTY’S NOMINEES FOR A NUMBER OF MUNICIPAL OFFICES, SUCH AS SCHOOL BOARDS, COUNTY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND MORE PROBABLY OF GREATEST IMPORTANCE TO THE CITIZENS OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY IS ELECTING A NEW COUNTY EXECUTIVE. WHILE THERE IS ONLY ONE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE RUNNING FOR HIS PARTY’S NOMINATION, THE DEMOCRATS HAVE SIX CANDIDATES VYING TO REPLACE OUTGOING COUNTY EXECUTIVE RICH FITZGERALD, WHO IS TERM LIMITED AND CANNOT RUN WITH PITTSBURGH. HAVING A RELATIVELY NEW MAYOR ELECTING AN EXPERIENCED AND CAPABLE ALLEGHENY COUNTY EXECUTIVE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN USUAL. THERE ARE ALSO SEVERAL IMPORTANT STATEWIDE JUDICIAL RACES, INCLUDING A NUMBER OF JUDGESHIPS ALL THE WAY UP TO THE STATE SUPREME COURT. WE BELIEVE THAT YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE. PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO CAST YOUR BALLOT AND TO HELP DECIDE THE FUTURE OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES, OUR COUNTY AND OUR STATE.
