Pirates pitcher David Bednar visits Mars elementary school, distributes donated baseball gear
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher David Bednar surprised students at his old stomping grounds on Wednesday. Bednar surprised students at Mars Primary Center in Butler County. Bednar brought along the Pirate Parrot and some baseball gear that was donated by the team. "Very prideful to be from Mars and this community and it's very fortunate to have all these teachers and staff members that we have all throughout K-12 and just all the support they've given me and everybody that goes through the school," Bednar said. Along with the donation, Bednar also led some of the students in a baseball-themed physical education class.
